Subject:Just a Yahoo story on Easter
Time:9:34 am.
Rare occurrence as 2 faiths mark Easter By FRANCES D'EMILIO, Associated Press Writer
Sun Apr 8, 7:15 PM ET

ROME - From Moscow to Washington, Rome to Jerusalem, Christians of the Orthodox and Western faiths celebrated Easter on Sunday, prayed for a better future and relished their ancient rituals.

The alignment of the two faiths' Easter calendars, based on equinox and moon phases, occurs every few years, and this year's overlap made the narrow streets in the Holy Land especially crowded.

At the Vatican, the Eastern Christian celebrations of Easter resounded across the steps of St. Peter's Basilica when black-robed clerics intoned a long chant from the Byzantine liturgy during Pope Benedict XVI's outdoor Mass for tens of thousands of faithful. St. Peter's Square was ablaze with color from tulips, tiger lilies, hyacinths and azaleas from the Netherlands.

Benedict, head of the world's 1.1 billion Catholics, tempered his message about Easter joy with a litany of suffering in the world today, including what he decried as "continual slaughter" in Iraq and bloodshed in parts of Africa and Asia.

In Washington, a dawn crowd gathered for an Easter service at the Lincoln Memorial. Bundled up in blankets, scarves and hats, the worshippers sang "God Bless America" as the sun's rays glimmered on the reflecting pool.

President Bush worshipped at the chapel at Fort Hood, an Army post 50 miles southwest from his ranch in Crawford, Texas. The sprawling post has sent thousands of soldiers to the war in Iraq.

"I had a chance to reflect on the great sacrifice that our military and their families are making," Bush said after the service. "I prayed for their safety, I prayed for their strength and comfort, and I pray for peace."

A bagpiper played "Amazing Grace" and led a pre-dawn crowd of more than 200 up Mt. Davidson, San Francisco's highest peak, which is topped with a 103-foot concrete cross. Pastors from churches of several denominations led prayers for soldiers in Iraq.

Bethany Baptist Church in Boulder, Colo., used graffiti, nails and an interactive prayer labyrinth with nine stations to tell the story of the crucifixion. Pastor Rob Stout said labyrinths were created in the Middle Ages as a way of symbolizing the journey to Jerusalem.

"Graffiti has an interesting history to it. I call it vandalism. Some call it art. We wanted to use it because the story of the passion and the crucifixion of Christ is a very raw story," Stout said.

After weeks of Lenten sacrifice and fasting in preparation for Easter, many Christians in Eastern Europe enjoyed holiday meals including brightly colored hard-boiled eggs. Roast lamb was featured on many tables in the Balkans as well as in Italy.

Cries of "Christ is risen!" went up in Macedonia after midnight, when priests symbolically announced Jesus' victory over death. Archbishop Stefan, head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, called for peace "in our homeland and among all the people in the world."

While Christians are a tiny minority in Turkey, for historical reasons the Orthodox patriarchate has its home in Istanbul, ancient Constantinople, and the spiritual leader of the world's 200 million Orthodox, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, is based there.

Most of the worshippers packing the Church of St. George at a Saturday night Easter vigil service were visitors from Greece.

In the Pacific's predominantly Christian Solomon Islands, struggling with earthquake and tsunami losses, frightened villagers descended from the hills to celebrate Easter.

"Maybe it's a punishment from God," said one worshipper, Furner Smith Arebonato. "Before, there were few people in church. Now, after (the) earthquake, the church is filled with people, some of them never went to church before."

Subject:livejournal...whoa...
Time:11:24 am.
I will fully admit to not keeping up with the pace of livejournal, as I used to in the past, and as some of my friends I know still do. It's fun stuff, but somehow or another, it just got a backseat to various other things (mostly facebook. I am a horrendous facebook junkie). But, inspired by reading various other posts, I thought, Why not? Let's give it another go. We shall see how this round pans out for me.

Spring semester of '07, junior year, starting to have the worries about GRE's and graduate school. Still attempting to figure out what the heck it is I want out of graduate school; that might be nice to know before I apply. I sometimes feel as if I'm caught up in a rush of change, along with everyone else. There are those who seem to have it all together, and some who aren't sure yet. Rob is working for another year as he tried to decide; Emmy is moving to Arizona and switching to advertising; another friend is changing his major, but still keeping on the acting track. As for me, I'm still in psychology, but I have no idea where I want to go with it, except for a strong knowledge that clinical is not my road. There are so many options that I want to explore, but I can't help feeling like I'm running out of time. College used to feel like the longest time in the world, but once you get here, you realize that it's far from it. Such is life I suppose though.
That's not a very optimistic view of Rochester, but honestly, it's not so bad. Just lots going on, lots to do...all the usual. The OBOC show was this past weekend, and it was an awesome time, as always. Next up: King Lear and box office craziness. I can't wait to see what Nigel has done to this show; or can I? One never knows with Todd...

Now it's off into the rainy sort of day that Rochester does so well to find lunch and finish some phrase structure trees; adios :-)

I just did something really stupid. Really, incredibly stupid. Why the hell don't I ever think before I fucking act?? meh. voicemail is just a bad idea. That and distance. I can't seem to have a normal conversation when I'm talking face to face with someone, so why did I think I could make something work with someone 400 miles away? idk. I'm just way too tired to even think straight right now. I just really want to sleep.

Even chocolate disappointed me tonight. Trying to be good here, thought the whole mousse-yogurt thing would be perfect. But no. Chocolate and yogurt should not EVER be mixed. Yoplait loses major brownie points with that one >_<  Chocolate yogurt is disgusting. But I digress.

I'm going to go upstairs to bed, I guess. Maybe it'll be sunny in the morning

3. I will pick a flavor of jello to wrestle with you in.

4. I will say something that only makes sense to you and me.

5. I will tell you my first memory of you.

6. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.

7. I'll then ask you something that I've always wondered about you.

8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your LJ.

Damn. It got hot. Lake time anyone? Or pool time? Pools are good, do I have anyone volunteering a nice in-ground space for the afternoon? ;)

I have this urge to do a jigsaw puzzle. Preferably of sailboats.

Our bathroom is almost done-yay! It looks super-cool, remodeling is awesome :D Now if I can get to my room, life will be perfect. And there are peeps in the pond again, which makes me happy :)  Didn't think we were going to get any this year, but I think there are about 20 or so total. They look like little marshmallows and make lots of noise, but its funny to watch them chase water bugs.
I was in the park for a while with Laika, not too long, but in the shade it was semi-comfortable. There was a breeze too, so the heat wasn't too bad. I love i over there; its not exactly full-blown nature, but it is relaxing. Shade, beautilful trees, birds, and minimal traffic. I've been so spoiled growing up, moving out for good will be hard. If I get a chance to this summer, I'n going to try to pick up painting again and do some work over there.  Not going to be any masterpieces, but it might be a nice way to spend some afternoons. Wish they'd put the fountains back in though, I miss them. They'd help keep the water moving too; right now its almost completely stagnant. The algea is starting to grow up out of the pond, and yeah....ick.

Being home so far hasn't been too bad, worked some, started my classes, hung around a lot and been lazy, the usual. Eric is home until Sunday, we had one fierce game of monopoly on Caitlin's porch on the other night....damn, watch out for that boy!

Too many good movies to see this summer, need to start going. Planning on X3 hopefully friday :)  And yay to finally being better and not feeling lousy. I don't care for antibiotics all that much, nasty side effects, but they do work wonders. I'm blaming them though for all my air guitar playing lately (to lindsay lohan and hillary duff no less-!!!!)

Now tis off to test my culinary skills and boil water, then plop in front of a fan and read. Or something :P   Laters all

Subject:Home
Time:10:58 am.
Mood: relaxed.
Been a while, yes? Yeah. So here's an update for all you lovely people.

I'm home for the summer, nothing too terribly exciting planned-just some summer classes at CCC, working, and maybe volunteering to usher at MGR. I know a lot of people are gone doing various things, but if you happen to be around, let me know and we shall hang out :)
School ended on a pretty good note, still waiting to hear on grades for stats and biopsych, but astro and tech theater ended up being A's, so yay for that :)  I didn't do much besides the show after classes ended last week, went to the gym a lot and hung out with Rob, etc. I also discovered that having one glass ( albiet a not small one) of champgne apparently makes me dizzy. Not inebriated, but definately dizzy. Had I had a second glass, I might have been completely gone, but by then it was all gone anyways :P  On the bright side though, I slept incredibly well that night. So yay for Katie and champagne!

I've had mixed feelings about coming home, but the two days I've been here so far haven't been too bad. I miss campus already though; the place really grew on me, especially when the weather started to get nice. The quad is full of so many flowering cherry trees that it looks like we had pink and white snow. I think I got some pretty decent pictures before I left, and am actaully considering framing a few of them if I can get them printed out properly. In a way, it was also a bit sad to leave Towers and my room on the ninth floor, which again grew on me a lot in one semester. Still waiting to hear what's up with Drama House, but I have my fingers crossed. If that doesn't work out though, I'm sure I'll still get housing somewhere, its just a matter of when.

Went to the band concert last night, saw Emmy and Charity and the Meier guy, and in general it was nice. Funny to think how two years ago it was me on that stage....not so long ago, but it feels like a lifetime. I can't believe how fast things change, in so little time. Speaking of change, I also recently found out that two high shcool friends got engaged, names not being written per their request, but needless to say I'm a combination of shocked/happy for them.  I guess I still just find it hard to believe that people I know, so close to my age and everything else are getting engaged or married or whatnot.....its just plain crazy.

Aaaaaand....I think it's time for me to go do something semi-productive.  Like finish unpacking. Or cleaning my room. Chances are, however, that I'll just end up going for a run and being lazy again.....but hey, its summer, I'm allowed to be lazy for at least two days. Cleaning of the room/ house shoudl happen at some point though, since Rob might be visiting next week :D  And U of R commencement is a week from Sunday! :crosses finger for good weather:

Ciao ;)

Just wondering, wondering about a lot of things...

I know stage managing and everything to do with that theater gets me on edge, but sometimes, it can be ok. Yes, fun even. There's just something about it that I enjoy, something special about seeing it all come together, something exciting. Tech will probably be murder, but I think in the end it will be worth it.

There's never spare time for anything anymore, but I've started to realize this is a good thing because when I sit down with nothing to do, I think....and that may not always be the best thing. Just life, I guess....I hope this summer is ok.

GOing to bed now, goodnight

Mood: and very happy.
Music:Anytime.
Anytime you laugh, anytime you cry
Anytime you hear a sound
When you're on the grass, lying on the ground
Anytime you wash your hands, I'll be around
I'll be there on the baseball field
Though I'm well concealed
I'll be out there cheering
I'll be there in the books you read
It is guaranteed
I'm not disappearing fast anytime
No, not anytime

And I am there each morning
I am there each fall
I am present without warning
And I'm watching it all
Yes, I'm watching it all

Oh, and I am there in music
I am there in the sky
I don't know why this thing did happen
But this much is clear
Anytime or anywhere
I am there

Anytime you pray, anytime you fight
Anytime you've gained a pound
Anytime it's day, anytime it's night
Anytime the earth moves, I'll be around
I'll be there in the maple trees
I am summer breeze on a perfect evening
I'll be there when you celebrate
When the world seems great, I'll be waiting by your side
Anytime, yes, anytime

And I am there each morning
I am there each fall
I am present without warning
And I'm watching it all
Yes, I'm watching it all

Oh, and I am there in flowers
I am there in snow
I don't know why this thing happened
But this much is clear
Anytime you cry, anytime you sing
For anything...

I am there each morning
I am there each fall
I don't know why this thing did happen
But this much is clear
Be aware I am there
I am there
I am there
I am there...

I am there
I am there
I am there...

Really really good senior song :)

The show was good, really good. More beat now than I care to think about, and my feet hurt from 2 hours of dancing. But it was worth it. Gotta love cast parties.....

I'm in kind of a quiet, peaceful, but happy mood. I'm really glad that I'm here, and that things have gone so well....I'm a lucky girl :)

...is that, well, more often then not, it's completely crazy. And shit happens, and goes wrong, and life in general can suck. But here's the other thing-there are good parts to it as well. Not always all the time, and certainly not enough of them, but they happen. And they make you smile, and somehow seem to reassure you that things wil turn out ok.
And I really beleive that they will.

love you

Subject:fog
Time:7:49 pm.
Mood: contemplative.
The park was full of creepily awesome fog tonight. Not so much creepy as much as just fascinating. Walking through a ground cloud and feeling the water vapor on your face, all around you, is such a refreshing sensation. It's not the heavy wet summer fog, but a cool spring mist. Not cold, but cool. And it smells like spring, if a cloud can really smell like anything. Still, it's amazing just to walk through it, breathing in the air and watching the light play on the trees, casting five million different shadows every which way. If I could capture it in a photograph I would, but I don't know how well my camera works for the light/dark contrast. I believe it has mostly burned off by now also. I love fog though, especially night fog since it is not quite as common.

Am home for the week for break, and so far it's been ok.  In a lot of ways I'm still getting used to Rochester, but its becoming more comfortable as time goes by. Hard to believe once I'm back there will only be about 7 weeks left. Add that to the fact that I'm ASM-ing, and god before I know it I'll be home for the summer. Scary  =O
Not really doing a ton this week, just working Tuesday and Wednesday, plus possibly one more day if Steve and Barry's feels like giving me the hours. Emily and Timmy, I know you both are home and we need to freakin HANG OUT. It'll be good times ;) Hey don't forget our party in the asylum tomorrow!

Went shopping with Eric and two of his friends at Eastview Saturday, which was....interesting again, to say the least. I love that kid, no matter how gay he is. Just don't ever get in his way when he's on a clothing mission, because he will go into bitch mode on you. It's absolutely terrifying yet hilarious ;)

Also, not that anybody needs to be told I'm sure, but SU had a fucking kick-ass week, I want to have Gerry's babies like right now. Along with every other girl in New York. It's ok though, there's no doubt in my mind who he would choose :P  Saturday's game was not for the faint of heart-I kept pacing between the living room and the kitchen b/c I couldn't stand it, especially towards the end. Thank you thank you thank you Josh Wright, you make amazing free-throws.  We're up against Texas A&M Thursday..... GO ORANGE!

Guess that's about it for right now....and for some reason or another I can't get rid of the orange font. I'm not used to not cramming in reading on a Sunday night, maybe I'll go crochet. I started another project, ripple afghan, and I fully intend to finish it this time around. I'm even doing alternating colors whooo!  So long as the cat doesn't eat the yarn I'm all set. Or the dog for that matter;she chews on just about anything (!)

I think I might stop by the college tomorrow, and I'm definately going up to the show at some point this weekend if anyone would like to come and keep me company :)  Have no idea what it's about, or what it's called even ( although Jeff did tell me at one point), but what the heck I'll go anyways.

Laters y'all ;)

Time:5:08 pm.
Mood: lethargic.
Maybe I'm just in an advanced state of sleepwalking, or some other-worldly zen mode, but for whatever reason, I have been noticing all these little, miniscule details of everything today.
Not even five minutes ago I was leaving Robbins so as not to get kicked by an angry librarian, and as I walked back downtairs I couldn't help but notice the stairs into the reading room. They're a pinkish type pf marble, and the edges have been worn smooth by years of use. There is a little concave hollow where your foot fits perfectly as you descend, and I couldn't help but wonder-if stairs could talk, what would they say? Marble stairs at that. It might be neat to know....

Still in snowy Rochester, but at least today its sunny Rochester :)

Ash Wednesday, but since this girl's not Catholic, Lent doesn't start for me until next Monday-yeah, sorry guys ;) I did go to mass this morning though, because they had it in memory of Aunt Mimi's husband. I wasn't sure if she was going to make it for the service, but I guess the roads cleared up back in Auburn and she had no problems coming up. Was so good to see her again :)

Exams are done until spring break, which makes me happy. What does not make me happy is the fact that in the three days following spring break I have two problem sets due, my second biopsych and stats tests, and strike for Dr. Faustus. I also somehow got roped into ASM-ing for The Hour. It'll fulfill my lab hour requirement, but given the various reactions I've been getting from people when I've told them, I get this feeling that I might have sold what's left of my soul. :sigh:
I guess at the vary least it will be an interesting experience, and the show itself sounds like it will be well worth it. Probably a good idea I decided not to get that job this semester after all....

And while its a little late in the week, anyone want to go to the last SU home game this Sunday? I shall be going with my mom and brother, but we have one extra ticket. The seats are pretty crappy ( ie, long range view), but considering the fact that the game's sold out, and there is the senior farewell, etc, I think it'll be worth it. I can only hope that by some miracle it isn't a devastating loss....yeah, that's gonna take a miracle =/ I mean, its Villanova.....not a cause to get hopes up. I still can't beleive that they aren't going to get into the NCAA playoffs this year. Its the first time in...ok, so I don't know how long, but a long time that they haven't been in. They aren't even 20- yet!!! sheesh. Poor Gerry-this has to have been one heck of a lousy senior year =/ One more game at DePaul thursday, guess we'll see how it goes. Non of this, however, is going to deter my attending Sunday. The Orange fan-ness is too deeply ingrained. So if you want to go, drop me a line-it'll be fun at the very least to break a college basketball attendance record.

Ok, the librarian is giving me dirty looks....I guess Robbins closes at five on Tuesdays. Love you guys, stay warm!

Oh btw, someone put me back on clarinet-l. I don't know who, but THANK YOU!!!! :D
Rochester is pretty cool, but there are definately some things I still miss....March 31 can't come fast enough!

I think I could get to like it if I'm not careful ;)  And then I have oboc in about an hour, and then I am crashing. Excited to be auditioning for La Vie Boheme, also excited about Rent coming out tomorrow. And very very excited about sleeping once tonight is over.

Weather right now majorly sucks, but I guess we couldn't escape winter forever. Oh well =/

Subject:Yep, I'm here.....
Time:9:20 pm.
Mood: content.
Music:the radio.
I could stay awake just to hear you breathe....

Sorry, that song's been stuck in my head all night for some reason. :P Anywho, so here I am, in my tiny-yet-cozy room at the U of R. My roomie is currently out so its kind of quiet, and the rest of my suitemates are in various places who knows where. I know I know, its a Saturday night and I'm in, but I did have a small headache earlier so I just veged out and read a bit. Am contemplating going out in a little bit though, we shall see.
Hard to beleive that I moved in only a a week ago-feels like forever. Everything went fairly smoothly though, not too many problems at all. Minus the fact that one of our lights and doors are broken, but ya know, just typical college stuff. I lucked out in that I have a pretty awesome roomate, and a really nice suite too. Still getting to know most of the girls, but they're all friendly and whatnot, which is very cool. :)
Classes started Wednesday, and so far so good. I'm taking Biopsychology, Intro to Psychological Stats, Astronomy, and Theater Tech. Kind of a weird combination of stuff, but in the end it should all work out. I think anyways. Still waiting on the news of transfer credit, but hopefully that will get straightened out asap. Also still working on the making friends part, slowly but with conviction. The BPG and OBOC have interest meetings this weekend and I'm checking them out, plus maybe one or two more things.

Besides that, things haev been a little on the quiet side. I love this campus, minus the weather and the crows ( yes, I swear they followed me here). There's a very peaceful, relaxing atmosphere about it; its not really something I can put a finger on, but every now and then it hits me. Like the other night, for example, I stopped while walking home from class and just watched the sun set from the main quad. I don't remember when the last time was that I watched a sunset, but I'm glad I did just then. This is a bit cliche, but I think it is possible to get a 'right' feeling about a place. I'm hoping that its a precurosor of things to come here :)
I should also mention that they have crazy squirrels that steal entire bagels-people beware, and guard your bagels around Sue B! :p

Oh yes, happy 20th to Eric and Susan, the newest old poeple in town. Have fun ;)

I think that's it for the moment, so I'm going to go and do whatever. Maybe Eric will take the hint and call me....oh and btw, if you live in the Rochester area and I know you already, CALL ME. We'll hang out, and it'll be good times. :D
